When we first met them, they were in a heartbreaking state: they were fed nothing but a little bread and suffered the consequences of years of malnourishment.
Today we supply them regularly with eight sacks of high-quality dog food – and help to give them a more dignified life.
Time and again, Kangals have their ears cut off close to the head – a cruel practice that causes unimaginable suffering. It is often claimed as justification that the dogs hear better this way. But that is simply false.
What the animals experience instead is severe pain, fear and often lifelong consequences. Not rarely, the wounds become infected or never fully heal. For many dogs this mutilation remains a permanent mark of human cruelty.
No custom, no tradition and no myth justifies inflicting unnecessary suffering on a sentient being. Kangals are loyal, intelligent and dignified dogs. They deserve protection, care and respect – not mutilation.
